You scavenge the abandoned Playtime Co. factory for a Voice on the PA, hauling parts back to Barry before something larger finds you.
I split official wording from wiki inference on purpose. The FAQ is quoted only for the setting. Chapter order comes from the fan wiki and is labeled as such.
What the official FAQ says
The August 26 FAQ, still mirrored on the Poppy Playtime blog, places the game in the Poppy Playtime universe after the Hour of Joy. It says you can play it alone. It does not use the word canon and it does not call the game Chapter 5 or Chapter 6.
Fandom dates the Hour of Joy to August 8, 1995, at 11:01 AM, and reads this game as before Chapter 1. Treat that order as a wiki reading until Mob prints it.
The loop, not a chapter list
Previews describe shifts, a rising quota, and an exit. The Voice can change the factory layout. That is why a fixed room-by-room route is a poor fit for the story pages.

No. Chapter 6 is a separate upcoming main-series game. This one is a spinoff.
