Is Escape from Playtime Canon?

Three sentences are all true, and they are not the same sentence. The FAQ avoids “canon.” A Mob speaker used that word at a preview. The game is not Chapter 6.

I kept the Inven Global hands-on quote next to the FAQ instead of flattening them into one official label.

Three layers

Official FAQ: the game is set in the Poppy Playtime universe after the Hour of Joy. The word canon does not appear there.

Inven Global’s October 1, 2026 hands-on says a Mob speaker at the preview was proud to call the game canon. That is a reported spoken line, not store text.

Fandom treats the game as a canonical prequel. Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 shipped on PC on February 18, 2026. Chapter 6 is a separate 2027 title on the wiki. Escape from Playtime does not replace either chapter.

Questions

Is it Chapter 5?

No. Chapter 5 already shipped as its own paid PC game in February 2026.

Should I trust the wiki’s “canon” label?

Use it as the fan wiki’s reading. Pair it with the FAQ’s narrower wording and the preview quote.
