How Many Players?
Solo play is supported. The group size is written three different ways, so this page shows all three with dates.
I did not pick a favorite number. The newest Mob post and the live store summary are both still public, and they do not match.
How to read the table
Use the October 21 launch post when you want Mob’s newest sentence: “officially a 1-8 player co-op game.” Use the store summary when you want the number printed on the buy button’s page: 2–8, also written as up to 7 friends. The FAQ’s 1–4 is older and was still unchanged in the text checked on October 23.
The in-game lobby cap still needs a live check. Steam does list a single-player category, and the FAQ says you can play by yourself.

Questions
Can I play solo?
Yes. That part is consistent across the store categories and the FAQ.
Which number should a group trust?
Quote the launch post’s 1–8 as the newest claim, and expect the store page to still say 2–8 until Valve’s text changes.
